Sprite Summer Golden Jubilee Print

Celebrating Sprite's 50th birthday, 100 members of the Sprite family from the past 5 decades have arrived in Los Altos, California for the Golden Jubilee. Over 50 cities from 16 countries are represented in the Sprite Summer Showcase from July 1 - 31, 2011 at the Los Altos Main Library.

From Napa Valley, one-gallon fountain syrup jugs featuring the original starburst logo from the early 1960s make their debut in the main display case.  One-pint dimpled bottle featuring 1970s white starburst from San Francisco, 1980s red ball dimpled bottle from Los Angeles, 1990s eight-fluid-ounce dimples featuring Clyde Drexler and Grant Hill, 2000s blue-capped dimpled bottle from the World of Coca-Cola Las Vegas and the latest 251-ml aluminum Sprite bottles from the Windy City and the Big Apple round up each of the decades.

Sprite, the number one selling soft drink in China (ahead of Coca-Cola), has delegates from eight cities: Tianjin (Tientsin), Shanghai, Qingdao (Tsintao) (the first three are the original Chinese cities that bottled Coca-Cola in the 1930s), Beijing, Hangzhou, Kunming, Xiamen and Guangzhou.  Other cities from Asia include Hong Kong, Macau, Taoyuan, Kaohsiung, Singapore, Yeoju, Nagano and Tokyo.

European delegates include: Uxbridge, Bodegraven, Essen, Zagreb, Corfinio and Nogara.  From Australia: Northmead and Sydney.  From Mexico: Monterrey and Cuernavaca.

Last but not least, all the way from Camp Phoenix, Kabul, Afghanistan is a 2004 330ml Sprite 2-piece aluminum can with stay-on-tab produced by Gulf Line General Trading (Private), Ltd., El-Ain, United Arab Emirates.
