Coca-Cola Recalls Can-Shaped Glassware Print E-mail
Monday, 22 November 2010 00:03

The Coca-Cola Company has announced a voluntary withdrawal of 22,000 sets of themed drinking glasses for quality reasons. One glass, which is designed to look like a can of Coca-Cola(R), did not meet our quality expectations. While recent tests indicated some cadmium in the decoration on the outside of the glass, the low levels detected do not pose a safety hazard or health threat.

For Glasses Bought at the Coca-Cola Online Store: Consumers who purchased the glasses from the www.coca-colastore.com website will automatically receive a credit to their account.

Beginning Nov. 30, retailers and consumers also can call Coca-Cola Consumer Affairs at 1-800-438-2653 to get instructions on how to return the glassware and request a refund.

The great-grandchildren of the founder of Barq's root beer have filed a suit against The Coca-Cola Company in September 2010 alleging Coca-Cola does not legally own all the rights to Barq's Root Beer.  The estate of Arthur Louis Robinson (grandson of Barq's founder Edward Charles Edmond Barq Sr.) complains that the 1995 acquisition by The Coca-Cola Company did not obtain the legal rights for 1/3 of the the Barq's company.  The plaintiff is asking for 1/3 interest in the "fruits and revenues generated and produced" by the acquisition of Barq's "including, without limitation, the increase in value of those rights, the revenues generated from the use of the Barq's trademark" in Louisiana.
